Costa Rica La Pastora Tarrazu: Tarrazú is a coffee developed by CoopeTarrazú, a well-recognized cooperative in San Marcos, Tarrazú, Costa Rica. CoopeTarrazú has more than 50 years of experience and tradition while working with more than 1,000 coffee producers from the surrounding communities in the Tarrazú region. Specifically the La Pastora variety is a specific farmer group in that region further identifying this coffee. The cooperative's main functions are to provide milling, marketing and export services to its Co-Op members.
This is a very balanced coffee with subdued acidity but lush smooth cocoa notes on the finish. Flavors of pineapple and citrus up front are offset with a milk chocolate roundness that is a hallmark of the Tarrazu Costa Rican coffee.
Squalls and Doldrums Blend: When a dark full bodied beer is poured over a lighter, brighter one, the result is a delicate balance of flavors and the famous "black and tan" draft. Our version embodies that same spirit, combining a rich, full-bodied dark roasted coffee with a sweet, clean, light roast in a blend that looks as exceptional as it tastes. The resulting flavors bring the best of both coffees to the fore with plenty of roastiness and chocolate flavors that finish with a bright clean citrus note that is not bitter. This has quickly become a favorite around the home office at Vortex Roasters for sure. Cheers to all!
Butterfly Effect Blend: This delicious blend is a 50/50 fusion of two unique Honduran coffees that each stand alone as excellent coffees but together create a unique experience of an easy drinking Central American coffee with well balanced notes of tart apple and mild tropical citrus with a nice finish that does not linger. Both origin coffee farms are small, multi-generational family run enterprises located 200km apart but on the same central Honduran highland range. Many customers have related this is their "go to" coffee for breakfasts as well as for their afternoon mugs.
